Event Description:
Come join us for an exclusive Pride Month Tour of the French Quarter and a survey of our Queer History, with historian and author Frank Perez of Crescent City Tour Bookings. As we celebrate Pride month, we take this moment to consider our history through this two-hour interactive exploration of New Orleans gay history. Join us for this walking tour to learn about the origins of Southern Decadence, the evolution of gay carnival, and the story of the tragic Upstairs Lounge Fire. Learn about the favorite haunts and watering holes of Tennessee Williams and Truman Capote, as well as efforts to preserve this history through the LGBT Archives of Louisiana project.  Our guide Frank Perez is author of In Exile, a book on the history of gay life in New Orleans, and an upcoming biography of late local leader and  LGBT activist Stewart Butler. He has been guiding for over two  decades, though his own tour company, and also serves as founder of the Louisiana LGBT Archives as well.  Limited to only 18 spaces, so register early!
